The biggest change for 2026 is simplicity. On 11 February 2026, the ICP launched a Unified Fine System setting one flat rate, AED 50 ($13.6) per day, across every visa type and emirate. 

Dubai's old first-day surcharge is gone, and the previous AED 25 ($6.8) residence rate no longer applies. The trade-off is stricter enforcement. 

Overstay records now feed automatically into the databases that residency authorities check when approving new applications. The fine is affordable, but the record is what costs you.

What Does "Absconding" Status Mean?
